It’s Grilling Season – Time to Clean the Grill

Clean the Grill

It’s grilling season and what better way to get ready for the big weekend, but to clean the grill. Cleaning your grill actually helps in a number of ways.  First, your food will taste like the kind of food you want it to be, a chicken a chicken, a burger a burger, and a fish a fish.  Secondly, by cleaning your grill, your food will not stick to the grill.  This is important so you do not burn or destroy the look of what you are about to serve your guests.

It is important to clean your grill after each use. The best way to clean your grill is after you have cooked your food. Next, turn your grill off and when the grill is warm but not hot, use a wire brush to clean the grates of your grill. For some grills, we also recommend you use a little oil on a paper towel. Once the grill is clean and warm, not hot, wipe it down. Remember to let the grill cool completely before applying any paper. This will also protect your hands or fingers from burning.

Once you have cleaned your grates, now you can clean the rest of your grill. A charcoal grill empty of its ashes could use a scrub with hot soapy water. To clean out any debris or left over food particles.  On a gas grill, you will also need to clean below the grates. However it is important that you make sure the gas is off so as not to hurt yourself. Make sure there is nothing blocking the flow of gas and also make sure the ceramic briskets are clean of any debris.  If you have some trouble areas, we have used oven cleaner to help remove stubborn and caked on debris. After you follow the instructions on the oven cleaner, rinse off the area. This thorough cleaning can be done once a year.

Do not forgot the outside of your grill.  With some grills, you can touch their outer appearance up with a can of spray paint. With stainless steel grills, we recommend you use a stainless steel cleaner to get the outside of your grill looking great.
